This is a really informative article! I had my house inspected before I sold it (and of course had the new one inspected before I bought it!) I found that going over a home inspector's checklist was helpful before having a professional come out. (I used a really simple one--my dad actually suggested it. It was just like the one here: http://AccurateInspections.com/homeinspectionchecklist.htm). This way, I was able to fix what I could first, and get a better idea of what was happening. Once the inspector came, he did point out a few things I didn't already know, but they were mostly city specific things (like I had a small tire track near the curb from where a car had driven up over it during rain.)

Anyway, thanks for the info!
